Often a situation will require a manual data edit within DataLab and it can take a very long time. Take a look at how the Replace feature can speed this process.
Let’s say you need to apply a Reason Code to all the hours in the last quarter that were online and invalid – something like this can take forever if you try to go through each hour one at a time!
That is where the Replace feature () comes into play, allowing you to edit multiple fields of data at once.
In Datalab you can highlight multiple cells by using CTRL+click on individual cells or Shift+click on a group of cells. Once the Data you need to edit is highlighted, you are able to click the Replace button at the top and apply a value or field to all selected cells. You can combine this with the use of Datalab filtering as well, making it really easy to edit the correct data.
Using the same example as above, you could filter for all hours the Unit Operating (UNITOPHR) parameter was greater than zero, filter for all hours your parameter was invalid, and then Shift-click on all the filtered cells and use Replace. All of a sudden, what would have taken hours to edit now only took about a minute!
The Replace feature is also present in StackStudio for some configuration fields. So for example, say you have upgraded to an 8864 and want to change your storage time to store minute data for 30 days. You can go into Channel Settings, filter for the controller in question, select the whole storage time column, and hit the Replace button to apply a 30 day storage interval to all channels.
