The plant, located in Albany, Georgia, is scheduled to begin operation in June 2017. Constellation will build, own and operate the more than $200 million cogeneration plant under the name Albany Green Energy LLC.
The biomass plant will supply 100 percent of the steam used to run a P&G facility that makes Bounty paper towels and Charmin toilet paper. It’s one of P&G’s largest paper manufacturing operations in the world. The plant will also generate electricity for the local utility, Georgia Power.
